Founded in 2023, The SunBundle was inspired when our founder, Yasmine Mansi, witnessed inequity in sports firsthand while competing internationally in Egypt. At nationals, she saw athletes racing barefoot while she, a Division I athlete at the University of Michigan, competed in high-quality, team-issued gear. Recognizing the surplus resources available to athletes at this level, Yasmine created The SunBundle to not only donate excess athletic gear but also transform these donations into care packages that empower and educate athletes to reach their full potential.
Our process begins by collecting surplus athletic gear, upcycling it into care packages, and distributing them alongside wellness resources to underserved communities through partnerships and community events.
“When I raced in Egypt back in 2023, one of my events took place in 105-degree heat. The sun was intense: no shade, just heat radiating off the track. It was brutal, but also unforgettable. In that moment, the sun felt like a symbol of grit, hard work, and passion: everything it took to keep going despite the conditions. That feeling stuck with me. SunBundle is built around that same energy. Each care package is meant to reflect that kind of resilience—a small, tangible way to help student-athletes push forward. With repurposed gear and educational tools around health and wellness, we hope every SunBundle can help spark confidence, opportunity, and perseverance.”
